The VR-2 power system (MPS) is a PIM innovation (pp) utilizing two independent Rotary-Turbo engines, linked to a high performance transaxle, through an involved system of gears, clutches, and hydraulics called the PIM MPS drive system.

The MPS power system is designed to deliver the combined horsepower of both rotary engines to the high performance transaxle as required. The two engines can be run simultaneously, or individually, depending on demand. The system can be managed through driver (manual) or computer (automatic) controls.

Benefits of the MPS System over typical "Exotic" power systems:

  • Horsepower: The MPS allows the VR-2 access to an estimated 800 horsepower at any moment.

  • Reliability: The MPS utilizes two moderate engines rather than one over-stretched and tenuous single engine.

  • Flexibility: The MPS can be ran with only one of the two engines engaged and/or firing. If the VR-2 only requires 200 HP to complete the current required trip, then only one of the two engines needs to be utilized. The other engine sits idle. If the VR-2 requires 700 HP to complete the current required trip, both engines will be utilized.

  • Fuel Economy: The MPS only requires fuel as HP requirements dictate. The vehicle does not use large-displacement fuel volumes for low HP requirements.

  • Durability: The MPS allows hours of operation on engines only as required by HP needs. Engines will frequently sit idle in normal trips.

  • Safety: The MPS allows the driver to "shut-down" either engine as he/she sees fit. If a problem occurs with one engine, it should be "shut-down", and the other engine used to complete the trip. 92% of all engine support systems are specific to the individual engine.
